Ernestina Rubia
Ernestina Rubio holds a Ph.D. in Tourism (with Cum Laude distinction and Extraordinary Doctorate Award), a Master’s degree in Sustainable Tourism Management (with Honors) from the University for International Cooperation in San José, Costa Rica, and a Master’s degree in Hotel Management and Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain.
As an entrepreneur, university professor, and researcher, she combines her business activities as an international consultant for sustainable tourism projects with academia, teaching postgraduate courses at universities in Spain and Costa Rica.
Currently, Ernestina serves as the President of the international organization Planet4People – a consultancy specializing in tourism and sustainable development – and as the Director for Spain and Portugal at Connect Worldwide Travel – an international network of consultancies specializing in strategic marketing for tourism businesses and destinations. She is also the Founder and Director of NoEsUtopía – a strategic consultancy and applied research firm dedicated to the development of sustainable tourism projects.
Ernestina is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Argentine foundation Plan21 – which specializes in the regenerative development of territories and tourist destinations – and is part of the Quality Assurance Commission for the Master’s in International Tourism Management at URJC. She regularly collaborates with prestigious international universities, such as the University of Deusto, the University of Valencia, the University of the Caribbean, and the University of Castilla-La Mancha, among others. She is also an author of scientific literature, with notable publications including the ecosystemic proposal of a Sustainable Strategic Management Model with an ecosophical approach for Fourth Sector hotel businesses.
With more than 30 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, Ernestina frequently participates as an international speaker and trainer. She actively collaborates with NGOs and civil society initiatives focused on economic transformation to generate a triple positive impact on local territories.
