The Universidad Bernardo O'Higgins is a private autonomous Chilean university, founded in March 1990 and inspired by O'Higginian philosophy. Its headquarters are located next to Parque O'Higgins, in the commune of Santiago. It is currently accredited at an advanced level by the National Accreditation Commission (CNA-Chile) until November 2026.
In the context of Chilean universities, the UBO appears in position 29 according to the Scimago 2023 classification, reaching tenth position in the innovation indicator. It is also presented worldwide and in Latin America in the QS ranking, highlighting its positioning in the ratio of students to academic staff in both classifications.
On the other hand, in the 2024 version of the world THE ranking, the UBO was classified for the first time with a solid eighth place at the national level in the international perspective indicator and positioning itself in third and sixth place at the Chilean level in the international perspective indicators. and Entry into the Industry in the Latin American version of the ranking.
Furthermore, by virtue of one of the pillars of the educational model of the Bernardo O'Higgins University, the university is among the 6 Chilean universities classified in the UI Green Metric ranking related to sustainability and among the 20 Chilean institutions classified in the THE Impact ranking, which measures the impact on the 17 SDGs, highlighting the first place among Latin American universities classified in SDG 4 of Quality Education.
Likewise, in cooperation with each of the dimensions that make up the institution, and which is part of the constant commitment to the search for excellence in Higher Education, the Bernardo O'Higgins University subscribes to Free Education Programme 2021.
