The Costa Rica Institute of Technology is a public university focused on teaching, research, and university extension. TEC has several campuses and academic centers distributed throughout the country. One of them is the San Carlos Local Technological Campus (CTLSC), located in San Carlos, Costa Rica. The campus is 77 kilometers from Juan Santamaría International Airport, in a humid tropical region, with an average annual temperature of 26°C, 3,500 mm of rainfall per year, and at 170 meters above sea level.
The CTLSC infrastructure includes an academic-administrative complex, classrooms, laboratories, a library, offices, student residences, a dining hall, laundry facilities, recreational and sports areas, as well as workshops for agricultural machinery, irrigation, and grain drying warehouses; in total, it covers 35,500 m². The campus is home to the Technological Transfer and Continuing Education Cooperation Unit (CTEC), which aims to promote the socioeconomic and technological development of the region and has an auditorium with a capacity for 335 people.
